Partner Spotlight: First Presbyterian Church of Richmond

At Communities In Schools of Richmond, we know that students succeed when the community steps up with care, consistency, and connection. That’s exactly what First Presbyterian Church of Richmond has done—especially in Richmond’s East End.

For years, First Pres has been a dedicated partner to our work at Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School and Henry L. Marsh III Elementary School, two Richmond Public Schools where many students face challenges that can get in the way of learning. Their partnership helps ensure that students and families have access to essential resources, meaningful relationships, and opportunities for growth.

Whether providing school supplies and basic needs, supporting special events, or helping meet urgent needs identified by CIS Site Coordinators, First Pres has been a reliable and responsive ally. Their generosity strengthens the wraparound supports that CIS of Richmond provides every day, from improving attendance to supporting students’ social-emotional and academic development.

Partnerships like this are central to our model. By aligning with community organizations that share our belief in the power of relationships, we expand what’s possible for our students and schools. First Pres continues to be an important part of that mission—walking alongside us to help students overcome barriers and reach their full potential.

We’re proud to celebrate this partnership and look forward to continuing the work—together.
