Every school culture reflects the families and the neighborhoods where they sit. Why the CIS model works not only locally, but nationally, is because it is a reflection of the partners that come together to support the community schools. We rely on a number of partners throughout the region from corporations, to local businesses, to civic organizations, to individual volunteers. While every school looks different in the range of partnerships, each resource and partner is filling a specific need for each community. All work maps to student level outcomes for attendance, social emotional growth, and course performance.
Partnerships can also look different. We have corporations, foundations, and individuals supporting our model within schools. The community also engages with a range of other youth serving organizations to bring programming to our students.

Funding partnerships
The generous investments from local individuals, foundations, and organizations ensures that our youth in Richmond and Henrico have the tools they need to take control of the future they want for themselves.
The CIS Model of Integrated Student Support (ISS) depends on the commitment of partners to deliver the very best for our students. This partnership looks different at every site, from programming, to In-Kind donations—and most importantly, time.
Students thrive when they know adults care about them. CIS engages volunteers to partner directly with Site Coordinators at schools to help students achieve their goals.
